James Murphy talks to NPR

Added on by Tom Cramond.

LCD Soundsystems’ founder, and front man James Murphy speaks to NPR’s Terry Gross about their latest album This is Happening and the process behind Murphy’s music.

The humor, intelligence and insight Murphy brings to his music is really something. Even if you’re unfamiliar with his work, the thought processes driving his life and his records are well worth a listen.

“I’ve been on a quest for the length of this band to just trust my taste even when it’s pretty embarrassing, cause an embarrassment is kinda an untapped resources in rock music” - Murphy

Although this interview was recorded in 2010, NPR has decided to republish the interview to coincide with the release with the bands new documentry Shut Up and Pay The Hits, a film about the bands final show in 2011.

If I had to pick the perfect item to launch this blog, I couldn’t think of anything more fitting than one of my favourite artists exploring their artistic philosophy on National Public Radio with Terry Gross - Bliss!
